You should learn because it is obligatory, and you should recite because prayer (salah) is not possible without reciting it, these two reasons should enough for start learning. 

On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will raise people blind for not reading and following the Qur’an, “The servant will say, O my Lord! my vision was ok on earth! Allah Ta’ala will say, “My revelations came to you, you had forgotten them.” Likewise, I will forget you today”. (Sura Ta Ha 124-126)


Recomended in Quran

  • Recite in the name of your Lord who created. 96:1
  • And to recite the Qur’an. 27:92
  • Or add to it, and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. 73:4
  • And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers. 17:82
  • And those who recite the message. 37:3
  • We will make you recite, and you will not forget. 87:6
All these above verses from Qur'an recommending to recite Quran so it could be healing and mercy for them. Allah SWT also recommended that "Recite with measured recitation" (73:4), so it is necessary for everyone to learn how to read Qur'an with sahih method.

Recomended in Hadith

  • Sura Baqara and Al Imran will be with reciter in the day of Qiamah and will ask forgiveness. (Jame Tirmidhi 2883)
  • If Sura Mulk pray for reciter he/she will be forgiven. (Jame Tirmidhi 2891)
  • Those who are experienced in the Qur’an will be with the angels who are loyal to Allah, dignified and authoritative. (Sahih Muslim 1735, 1747)
  • Best of among you who learn and teach Quran.
  • Every night of the month of Ramadan, Jibreel (as) recited the Holy Quran to the Prophet (peace be upon him). (Bukhari 1902, 3220)
  • Teaching two verses from the Book of Allah is better than two beautiful camels with bright hues. (Abu Daud 1456)
  • In Jannah honor will be higher who know much verses. (Abu Daud 1464)
  • Qur’an will either intercede for people or against it. (Muslim 427)

So If you not recite and follow Qur'an regularly you will miss a special mercy from Allah SWT! You should not fear learning although it feel difficult to you, rather fear you are not yet learning. There are two rewards for the persons who recites the Qur’an even though it difficult for him.
